Everyone knows saunas make you sweat. But not all sweat is created equal. If you've ever stepped into a traditional sauna at your gym and felt like you couldn't breathe, or had to leave after just a few minutes because the air was too hot, you're not alone. Traditional saunas can be uncomfortable, even unbearable for some people.
But what if there was a better way? A way to get all the benefits of heat therapy without the suffocating heat? That's where infrared saunas come in—and it's exactly what makes Redsol Wellness Club in League City different.
The Science: Traditional vs. Infrared Heat
Understanding the difference between traditional and infrared saunas starts with understanding how they heat your body.
Traditional Saunas: Heating the Air Around You
Traditional saunas (also called Finnish saunas) work by heating the air around you to extremely high temperatures—typically between 180-200°F. The hot air then heats your skin, causing you to sweat. This creates an uncomfortable environment that many people find hard to tolerate for extended periods.
Infrared saunas use a completely different approach. Instead of heating the air, they use infrared light waves that penetrate your skin and heat your body directly from within. This allows the sauna to operate at much more comfortable temperatures—typically 120-150°F—while still providing superior therapeutic benefits.
